27.9.21. ‘I love it when we have races like that, I really do!’ So said the commentator today at the conclusion of Noduff Bellagio’s latest outing in A4 at Monmore Green.
Bonnie (pictured) must have run at least six lengths further than the rest of the field. Moderately away, she thought about cutting the first bend but decided to circle the field on the wide outside instead. She repeated that manoeuvre at the third bend and found herself last at the final bend. Some shenanigans then ensued on the inside between the one and four dogs as the remainder vied for the lead. Bonnie simply straightened up and ran on strongly getting up on the line to win by a double short head – an outcome that was exceedingly unlikely all the way round.
She has the pace but not yet the track craft – if she did she would probably be everybit as good as her sister Bellmore Sally. It all still bodes well for her debut over six bends in due course.
